The invention relates to a calotte shell (1) and the use thereof in a method for finishing chains, in particular chains of pearls (15) or other jewellery elements which are threaded onto at least one double thread which is resistant to breaking or a double pair of threads (11). In addition to the opening which is formed by the cutout (3) from the spherical body (2), the calotte shells (1) have a bore (7) on the outside of the spherical body (2), through which bore the threading needle (8) can be pulled. In this manner, a knot (13, 16), provided with a drop of adhesive (14, 17), at the end of the double thread (11) is given a precise position inside the spherical body (2) for curing or bonding the adhesive (14, 17), which prevents detachment between the thread ends and the respective calotte shell (1). <IMAGE>
