PURPOSE:To enhance the safety at the break down of a connecting member by a method wherein a controlling member to control the shifting of a fulcrum member, which serves as the rocking fulcrum of a rocker arm, is energized in one direction by means of a spring, when the connecting member, which connects said controlling member to an actuator, breaks down. CONSTITUTION:A cylindrical fulcrum member 17 is slidably fitted onto a sleeve member 16, which is fittingly fixed onto a holding bolt provided by piercing through the through hole 10a and 13a of a rocker arm 10 and 13 for suction and exhaust valve. Four convexities 17b are formed at the upper end of the fulcrum member 17, the lower end of which forms itself a rocking fulcrum surfcace 17a, by notching rectangularly at predetermined intervals in the circumferential direction. Further, a fixed plate 18 is attached onto a smaller diametral part 16a formed at the upper part of the sleeve member 16. Furthermore, a rotary plate (controlling member) 19, which has an opening 19a fittingly insertable in the convexities 17b, is fitted rotatably beneath the fixed plate 18. In addition, a torsion spring 27, both ends of which are respectively engaged with the fixed plate 18 and the rotaty plate 19, is arranged in order to energize the rotary plate 19 in the direction of the actuation of the valve by means of the spring force. |
