PURPOSE:To make it possible to set easily an aimed rotational speed by correcting the basic change speed in accordance with a relationship predetermined to decrease with the rise of the traveling speed of the vehicle, and changing the velocity ratio in accordance with the changed speed after the correction by velocity ratio adjusting means. CONSTITUTION:Rotational speed detecting means 1 for detecting the rotational speed of an engine, vehicle speed detecting means 3 for detecting the traveling speed of the vehicle, aimed rotational speed determining means 2 for determining the aimed rotational speed of the engine and velocity ratio adjusting means 6 for adjusting the velocity ratio of a continuously variable transmission 7 to cause the actual rotational speed of the engine to be in conformity with the aimed rotational speed are provided. Basic change speed determining means 4 determines basic change speed of the velocity ratio that will increase in accordance with the difference between the actual rotational speed of the engine and the aimed rotational speed. Velocity ratio change speed controlling means 6 corrects the basic change speed in accordance with the realtionship predetermined to decrease with the rise in the traveling speed of the vehicle, and velocity ratio adjusting means 5 changes the velocity ratio in accordance with the change speed after the correction. |
