PURPOSE:To enhance accuracy by eliminating the clearance between a part to be inspected and a detection paint while enhancing inspection sensitivity, in a leak test method using an ammonia detecting tape, by evacuating the space between the detecting tape and a welded part. CONSTITUTION:The welded part 5 of matrix materials 4, 6 is washed and a detecting tape 3 consisting of a detection paint 1 and an adhesive part 2 is stuck to the welded part. As the detection tape 1, an indicator such as BPB(bromophenol blue) is used and butyl rubber is used in the adhesive part 2 while the detecting tape 3 uses a transparent tape comprising cellophane or polypropylene as a base tape. An adhesive tapes 7 each having airtightness are stuck to both end parts of the detecting tape 3 to block the space between the detection paint surface and the welded part from the open air and air is withdrawn from said space by a vacuum pump 10 to bring such a state that the detection tape 3 is closely stuck to the welded part. A leak degree can be inspected from a lead indicating pattern with high reliability and high sensitivity.
