The ventilation system (1) is connected on the one hand to the vent discharge of a dwelling and to a room (4) connected via a flow inlet and also connected to an outer duct (9). The inlet opening (6) is connected via the ventilation unit (7) with inner duct (8). When the system is operating, air is drawn from the room via the inner duct (8) in the discharge. A vacuum is created where the discharge meets the inner duct (8) because of the enlarged cross-section. This vacuum extends into the outer duct (9), thus drawing away more air. This ensures that no stale air remains suspended against the ceiling.
