The light source is mounted inside an angled reflector. The Wood's filter is mounted between two sheets of clear glass in a frame which fastens onto the front of the reflector housing. A high proportion of the lamp output is absorbed by the filter, and since the material would be damaged by temperatures greater than 80 deg.C, cooling is necessary. Naturally convected air enters the frame through a slot in the base, flows between the filter and the glass sheets, and out through side louvres. If necessary airflow can be increased by a frame-mounted fan. |
