PURPOSE:To obtain an element for a gaseous oxygen concn. cell having a large output and excellent characteristics by joining two sheets of base plates formed with electrodes for the gaseous oxygen concn. cell on the front and rear surfaces via an insulating member and connecting the cells on the base plates in series. CONSTITUTION:Meshed electrodes 3 consisting of platinum and leads 4a, 4b are formed on the front and rear surfaces of solid electrolyte base plates (stabilized zirconia ceramics base plates contg. Y2O3) 1A, 1B. A ceramic base plate 2 is placed between the plates 1A and 1B and while small holes 5a are matched with each other, platinum paste is cast into the respective holes 5 to connect the cells. A slurry prepd. by mixing glass powder which softens at about 1,000 deg.C, a solvent and a binder is preliminarily coated on the front and rear surfaces of the plate 2 except the parts of the holes 5 and the assembly is heated to join the plates 1A, 1B to the plate 2.
