In a stator-rotor assembly for a machine with compression and expansion chambers the rotor is equipped with at least one pair of annular segment pistons rotating about the axis, which pistons are guided in a radially outer section of the stator equipped with a cylindrical annular duct in a close running fit, the stator containing two circular housing shells and the rotor containing the piston carriers, crank block discs, a clutch assembly, and the latter containing a fixed core gear, on which according to the number n of annular segment pistons n pairs of planet wheels rotate, the crank block discs are non-positively connected to the actual shaft and the epicyclic gearing is arranged between the piston carriers and a pair of eccentric discs supported radially opposite one another on the respectively assigned planet wheel shaft with the connecting rod elements at the one end supported all around their circumference, which elements are supported at their other end - alternately coupling the piston carriers to the crank block discs - and of which those of the one crank block disc are offset from those of the other by an angle of 360 DEG :2n against each other.
