PURPOSE:A copolyester amide excellent in melt moldability and capable of forming a container excellent in mechanical strength, transparency and gas barrier property, prepared by cocondensing xylylenediamine as the third component. CONSTITUTION:A linear copolyester amide (intrinsic viscosity of 0.4-2dl/g and a glass transition point >=40 deg.C composed of 45-50mol% aromatic dicarboxylic acid units (with the proportion of terephthalic acid units of about 50-100mol%), 20-49.5mol% diol component units (with the proportion of ethylene glycol units of about 50-100mol%), 0.5-30mol% xylylenediamine units (where any of o-, m-, and p-isomers or a mixture thereof can be used), and 0-5mol% units of 3- 15 C polyfunctional component having at least three carboxyl and/or hydroxyl groups, e.g., trimellitic acid or pentaerythritol. |
