<p>PURPOSE:To control accurately and adequately the tension of a wire rod in a wire rod rolling mill in the stage of producing the wire rod with the wire rod rolling mill by controlling the tension on the wire rod by changing the speed of the rolling mill without changing the speed of pinch rolls. CONSTITUTION:When a wire rod is bitten into a rolling mill 1 and pinch rolls 4 in the stage of rolling the wire rod with the wire rod rolling mill 1 and feeding the wire rod via the rolls 4 to a laying roll 5, a pinch roll bite detector 12 operates and a pinch roll tension control device 9 emits the output for tension control device upon receiving of the inputs from a pinch roll current detector 6, a pinch roll load setter 7 and a pinch roll tension setter 8. Said output is applied to the speed reference of the mill 1 set by a speed setter 10 and is applied as an input to a motor control device 3 of the mill 1. Adequate tension is thus applied on the wire rod between the mill 1 and the rolls 2 and the fluctuation in the reel diameter of the reel 5 is prevented.</p> |
