Choke or transformer in sleeve construction, in particular for use as a ballast for gas discharge lamps, comprising a core package laminated in the longitudinal direction of the choke or transformer, which package is seated on a mounting plate (2), comprising a self-supporting wound coil mounted on the core and insulated from this, the winding heads of which extend beyond the core package at both ends and which are each covered for safety of contact by a respective insulation material part (7) having an extension engaging behind the winding heads from above in cooperation with the mounting plate (2), the extension extending at least beyond the height of the coil in the intermediate space between the coil and the core package (4), characterised in that the insulating material parts (7) are plate-shaped and the extension of each insulating material part (7) engaging behind the winding heads consists of two L-shaped ribs (9) provided on the upper edge of the insulating material part (7) the outer lateral spacing of which ribs being approximated to the winding head inner diameter, in that the ribs (9) have a cross-member (10) connecting their free ends and in that on the core package (4) is mounted a U-shaped housing part (6) extending beyond both ends of the winding head projection and overlapping the upper edge of the insulating material parts (7) arranged on both ends.</p> |
