PURPOSE:To obtain a reinforcing agent for PVC resin for improving impact resistance with keeping transparency, by subjecting an aromatic vinyl monomer, and an alkyl methacrylate(and another vinyl monomer) to emulsion polymerization in the presence of a specific butadiene copolymer. CONSTITUTION:60-20pts.wt. monomer consisting of 20-80wt% aromatic vinyl monomer, 80-20wt% alkyl methacrylate, and 0-20wt% another vinyl monomer (e.g., acrylonitrile, etc.) is subjected to emulsion polymerization in the presence of 40-80pts.wt.(calculated as solid material butadiene (BD) copolymer latex consisting of 5-35wt% styrene, 95-65wt% BD, and 0-20wt% another vinyl monomer A[e.g., methyl methacrylate, etc.], to give the desired reinforcing agent. The BD copolymer used has 20wt% part of the latest polymerization period, which has 80-100wt% BD content and >=5wt% higher BD content than that of the total BD copolymer.
