A friction clutch of the type including a pressure plate 18 and cover 16 includes a drive strap 14 oriented along a chord of the pressure plate, the strap 14 being affixed to the pressure plate by a rivet 32 which extends through a bore 30 entirely through the pressure plate. The bore 30 defines small and large diameter portions 38, 40 interconnectecl by a flared step 42.
