PURPOSE:To obtain a yellow pigment having excellent fastness and clear and pure yellow color, by adding a specific additive to a base component composed of Ti, W or Mo, and Ni, Co or Cr, and calcining the mixture. CONSTITUTION:The objective pigment can be prepared by (1) mixing (A) a base component containing 100pts.wt. of titanium (in terms of TiO2), 1-40pts.wt. of tungsten or molybdenum (WO3 and MoO) and 0.5-40pts.wt. of nickel, cobalt or chromium (NiO, CoO and Cr2O3) with (B) an additive containing lead, cadmium, arsenic, beryllium, bismuth, barium, tin, aluminum, zinc, silicon, phosphorus, potassium and sodium, and (2) calcining the mixture at 700-1,500 deg.C. The amount of the component (B) is selected to 0.1-15wt%, in terms of PbO, CdO, As2O3, BeO, Bi2O3, BaO, SnO2, Al2O3, ZnO SiO2, P2O5, K2 and Na2O respective ly, based on the sum of the base component in terms of the oxide.
