The invention relates to machines for cutting using a press with serrated cutters, the teeth of the cutters piercing the material thus facilitating subsequent cutting by shearing. The serrated cutters are mounted around moulds which, in turn, are fixed under the upper plate of the press. The material to be cut is placed on a solid support made from very hard rubber. The cutters cut the material by the movement of the press and press into the support at the end of cutting. Amongst the most beneficial industrial applications, mention may be made of the garment and leather goods industries. <IMAGE>
