The device has a counterweight which is connected by an upper and a lower roller, and also by a belt or chain, to the main slide carrying the spray elements, the drive being taken over by one of these. Because of the centrifugal mass, which is doubled by the counterweight, a respective spring element is present for each reversal of movement, which is set, together with the end switch element effecting the changeover of the direction of movement, at the desired reversal point in each case. The spring element is compressed by the inertial forces, brakes the two partial mass slides including the spray element and counterweight, and accelerates them in the opposite direction. Since the direction of movement of the drive motor is changed over approximately simultaneously by the end switch elements in a different manner, the drive does not need to be designed for lifting a slide loaded with spray elements or for the braking and acceleration of the masses, but only for the small frictional forces. Furthermore, the invention extends to an especially favourable solution as regards the arrangement of the guide rails.
