Apparatuses for the continuous squeezing off and equalising of the liquid, especially dye coating of yarns are equipped with two squeezing rollers (2, 3) which are mounted one above the other in a roller stand (1) and can be driven to rotate by a drive motor (4) and of which the upper (2) is guided vertically displaceably in the roller stand (1) and can be pressed with adjustable pressing force against the lower squeezing roller (3) and the yarn (15) running through the nip. To make it possible to work at high yarn run-through speeds and nevertheless achieve an efficient squeezing off and equalising of the dye coating of the yarn, the two squeezing rollers (2, 3) are to be positively driven independently of one another at the same circumferential speed. At the same time, the upper squeezing roller (2) is advantageously suspended with reciprocating motion by means of its drive shaft (2') and the drive shaft (2') is to be driven at both ends. The drive expediently takes place via double-toothed belts (17) arranged on both sides of the machine stand. Overriding clutches (23) are expediently also provided between the shaft (2') carrying the upper squeezing roller (2) and its driving wheels (16) arranged at both ends. <IMAGE>
