The invention relates to a belt conveying device such as a belt elevator, a cellular steel belt or the like, with a belt, in particular a steel cable belt, the tension-bearing member of which is embedded in rubber or the like, which forms a cover plate on both sides of the belt and on whose outside conveying elements such as steel cells, buckets or the like are attached by means of fastening elements which extend respectively from the inside of the belt with a fastening bolt or the like through the belt and a conveying element and are connected to the latter, and which have an abutment head at their other end, which abutment head is supported on the inside of the belt in such a way that the side of the abutment head turned away from the belt does not project over the running plane of the belt, the cover plate thickness on the inside of the belt in the region of the abutment heads being respectively thinner than on the section of belt not covered by an abutment head.
