PURPOSE:To obtan the titled resin composition which does not pollute working environment and can be handled easily, by suspension-polymerizing an acrylic acid monomer and/or a styrene monomer in the presence of carbon fiber. CONSTITUTION:100pts.wt. carbon fiber (preferably, short fibers such as middle fiber or chopped strand) is suspended in water. 10-50pts.wt. at least one monomer selected from the group cosisting of styrene, alpha-methylstyrene, acrylonitrile, and (meth)acrylic acid (ester) is added thereto. A polymerization initiator, a suspending agent, other aids, etc., are further added, and the resulting mixture is polymerized with agitation. It is preferred from the viewpoint of adhesion to the carbon fiber and compatibility with other resins tht 1-10pts.wt. acrylic acid monomer is first polymerized and then 9-40pts.wt. styrene monomer is polymerized. |
