PURPOSE:To join the tip of a plastic fiber inserted into a ferrule to the recessed portion at the end of the ferrule at a high tensile strength by such an arrangement wherein the tip of the plastic fiber is caused to contact with a hot plate and they are caused to rotate together. CONSTITUTION:A ferrule chuck 8 is connected to the spindle 7 of a processing machine 6 and the chuck 8 holds a ferrule 1 with a plastic fiber. Said spindle 7 makes free rotation and vertical movement, and the ferrule 1 is held at the center of rotation of the chuck 8. The ferrule 1 with a plastic fiber is held by the chuck 8, the spindle 7 is caused to descend while rotating and caused to contact with a hot plate 4. With this processing tip of the plastic fiber 3 is melted, pushed into the interior of a recessed portion 2 and spread therein. By this method, a joint of high strength is obtained. |
