<p>PURPOSE:To suppress leading-in or blowing-back of exhaust gas by transmitting the compression wave at valve opening wich has the pressure equal to exhaust pressure into an intake port when the intake and exhaust of a cylinder overlap. CONSTITUTION:In the execution for a 4-cycle engine in which the ignition order is set to 1A-1C-1D-1B, the respective lengths of the intake passages 5a, 5d and 5b, 5c of cylinders 1A, 1D and 1B, 1C are set to l1 and l2 respectively. Further, the length L of the intake passage through a communication passage 11 between each cylinder and other cylinder in which an intake port 9 is opened earliest after the opening of the intake port 9 is made equal. Said length L is set to the value with which the exhaust interference effect is obtained between the contiguous cylinders to which intake cycle is connected in an engine operation range where exhaust pressure increases over the intake pressure. Therefore, the compression wave generated during the time when the intake port of each cylinder is opened can be transmitted immediately after the intake port 9 of the above- described contiguous cylinder is opened.</p> |
