<p>A headlamp with a primary reflector (30) constructed as a rectangular reflector, of which the short sides (34) of the upwardly directed exit aperture (32) is located parallel to the vehicle longitudinal median plane. Above this aperture a plane deviating reflector (21) with optical means (24) is present, which redirects the light into a dipped light beam or distance light beam and deviates the same towards the road. The primary reflector (30) may be pivoted out of the vehicle body (25) about a horizontal axis (37) placed underneath. By this means the installational length in the direction of travel is reduced by approximately one third compared to a conventional headlamp, and the low temperature loading, due to the favourable heat dissipation out of the primary reflector, permits the use of thermoplasts for the production of the reflector. <IMAGE></p> |
