A control method of a vehicle air conditioner under idle condition is provided to keep a room air mode for a predetermined time period and convert the mode to a room/atmospheric air mode according to conditions when a vehicle is idling while the air conditioner is in operation, thereby preventing polluted air from being introduced into a vehicle room. A control method of a vehicle air conditioner under idle condition includes the steps of checking whether an automatic air conditioning mode is selected or not when an air conditioner is initiated while a vehicle engine is started(S110-S130), and checking whether an automatic harmful gas blocking mode is selected or not in the automatic air conditioning mode(S140). If yes, the vehicle is checked whether idling or not(S150). If the vehicle is idling and a room air mode is set, the room air mode is checked to be continued for a predetermined time period or not(S160,S180). If yes, an automatic room/atmospheric air control mode is carried out according to a harmful gas degree sensed outside the vehicle(S190).
