PURPOSE:To control secondary cooling water in an optimum way to improve controllability with high safety of a cooling control model by setting the value determined from the calculation model for the flow rate of the cooling water that determines the optimum flow rate of the cooling water in accordacne with the information on the cooling history provided by each specified unit length of a continuous casting billet to a flow rate control device. CONSTITUTION:The molten steel in a ladle 1 is charged via a tundish 2 into a casting mold 3 and is drawn downward to obtain a billet 4. A temp. history is estimated and calculated at every specified period with each of billets S1-Sn of every specified unit length. More specifically, different coeffts. of heat transmission, etc. different with each billet are inputted to the cooling control model in an arithmetic control part 6 for the flow rate, and the water flow rate of each cooling zone is determined in accordance with the same so that the surface temp. of the billet coincides with the target. The value is set in flow rate control mechanisms 8-1-8-m and valves 9-1-9-n are opened and closed according to the set value so that the cooling at the optimum flow rate is accomplished. |
