摘要 |
PURPOSE:To obtain ferroboron having a sufficiently low Al content by introducing gaseous halogen or a halogen compound into molten ferroboron. CONSTITUTION:Gaseous halogen or one or more kinds of halogen compounds are introduced into molten ferroboron to convert Al contained in the ferroboron into Al halide and to remove the Al halide by vaporization. Since Al has a greater affinity for halogen than Fe and B, halogen reacts preferentially with Al and escapes from the molten ferroboron as Al halide. By this method, ferroboron having a very low Al content can be stably obtd. from commercially available ferroboron having a high or medium Al content manufactured by a conventional method. |
