PURPOSE:To enable printing lines to be easily registered, by providing a carriage with a sighting mechanism. CONSTITUTION:The carriage 5 is reciprocated along a paper 2. The carriage 5 is provided with projectins 8, 9 for sighting a recording reference position 10 in the paper-feeding direction on the paper 2. The projections 8, 9 are so located that when the top ends thereof are viewed in the direction of an angle thetawith which the top ends appear in register with each other, the top ends appear in register with the reference position10 on the paper 2. In addition, the projections 8, 9 are so located that when they are viewed in the direction in which the left ends of the top ends thereof appear in register with each other, a recording reference position 11 in the pringint line direction on the paper 2 appears on the extension line of the viewing line. In use, a printing position on the paper is brought into register with the reference positions 10, 11. With a recording operation is started, the carriage 5 and a paper-feeding roller 1 are controlledly driven by distances between a recording head 6 and athe reference positions 10, 11, and then printing is started. |
