PURPOSE:To maintain the effect of a lubricant for a long time by forming a metallic thin film type recording layer having a dimply surface on a polymer substrate and by forming a lubricant layer on the recording layer. CONSTITUTION:A polymer substrate 5 having many dimples A, B on the front and rear sides is prepd. Cobalt is vacuum-deposited on the dimply surface A to form a magnetic layer 6, and the layer 6 is coated with an org. lubricant 7. A lubricant layer 8 is then formed on the reverse side of the substrate 5. The thickness of the layer 6 is 1,000-3,000Angstrom , and a polyester substrate of about 5- 10mum thickness is used as the substrate 5 in general. Since the lubricants 7, 8 are held in the dimples A, B, a magnetic recording medium causing hardly the reduction of the output level, clogging, an increase in the coefft. of friction and the deterioration of the surface water repellency due to repeated traveling is easily obtd. The effect of the org. lubricant is independently of the kind and is dependent largely on the surface shape of the substrate 5. |
