PROCESS FOR CONVERTING OLEFINS TO HIGH VISCOSITY INDEX LUBRICANTS

Hydrocarbon streams containing primarily olefins such as ethylene up to and inclusive of C16 olefins are converted to high viscosity index lubricating oil base stock by contacting them with a ZSM-5 type zeolite catalyst which has been conditioned by previous contact with a light olefin, preferably of 3 to 6 carbon atoms per molecule under suitable conditions of temperature and pressure.
