: N-substituted 2-methylnaphthylamides of the formula where R1 is -CH(CH3)-COOCH3 , or , where R3 and R4 independently of one another are methyl or ethyl , or R3 and R4 together are alkylene of 2 to 3 carbon atoms which is unsubstituted or substituted by methyl or ethyl , and R2 is selected from the group consisting of (i) thiazolyl and isothiazolyl which are unsubstituted or substituted by one or two substituents selected from the class consisting of halogen atoms , nitro , methyl and ethyl , and (ii) thiadiazolyl which is unsubstituted or substituted by one substituent selected from the class consisting of halogen atoms , nitro , methyl and ethyl , their preparation and their use for controlling fungi .
