COLOR PICTURE TUBE HAVING IMPROVED SLIT TYPE SHADOW MASK AND METHOD OF MAKING SAME

The color imagining tube has a shadow mask which has perforations in the form of slits disposed in columns. The slits in each column are separated by transverse bridges. The regions around the slits are reduced in thickness compared with the full thickness of the mask. The cross-sectional area of the transverse bridges is kept constant. This allows the bridge to be made small without increasing the likelihood of the mask folding along the bridges during manipulation and thus increasing the mask transmission.
