The invention relates to a device for guiding and centring a wire in a moulded-cable laying machine, using which device a wire which is to be laid horizontally by means of a laying finger of a laying head to form a moulded cable is guided without play such that the wire separations of the moulded-cable end points in the solder-free plug connectors can be laid with contact separations of >/= 2.5 mm or 0.1 inches. For this purpose, the device has a guide sleeve on the laying-finger guide, on the end of which guide sleeve on the laying-plate side there are arranged spring-loaded centring levers which are operatively connected to the laying finger. <IMAGE>
