PURPOSE:To provide a working fluid having excellent coefficient of performance and heating and cooling capabilities per suction volume of the compressor and suitable for use in a heat pump, which comprises at least one particular fluorinated alcohol as an essential ingredient and optionally water incorporated therein. CONSTITUTION:The titled working fluid comprises at least one fluorinated alcohol of the formulae I-III and, if necessary, water in such an amt. as will form a pseudo-azeotrope or azeotrope with the fluorinated alcohol. When the working fluid must be used under severe service conditions, it further comprises about 1pt.wt. stabilizer, e.g., a phosphite compd. such as dimethyl phosphite or diphenyl phosphite, a thiophosphite compd. or a glycidyl ether compd., such as butyl glycidyl ether based on 100pts.wt. aforesaid mixture. |
