The lighting situation detection process is for traffic routes with street lights (6). It involves measuring the light intensity behind a surface of defined spectral and absolute transparency. The strength of the lights can be measured by a light strength measuring device (4) operated in the saturation region. measurement can be from a mobile system, the position of which can be detected by a GPS system.
