CONSTITUTION:Upon the control of a variable pulley type stepless transmission unit (CTV) 4, in the block 44 the desired value Nin' of input side rotational speed for the CTV 4 is at first computed in accordance with the opening degree theta of a throttle valve, and in the block 46 the desired speed ratio (e') is successively increased or decreased by (DELTAe) until the actual input side rotational speed Nin reaches Nin' In the block 48 the feed-back gain is then obtained in accordance with the deviation between the desired speed ratio (e') and the actual speed ratio, and in accordance with the thus obtained value a flow control valve 19 in a movable pulley drive hydraulic circuit is controlled by means of an amplifier 50 to control the speed ratio (e) of the CVT 4. Further, in the block 52 shaft torque Te is computed in accordance with the values of Nin and theta, and in the block 54 a pressure regulating valve 16 is controlled in accordance with the line pressure which is obtained as the function of transmission torque.</p>
