PURPOSE:To enable the transfer of a complicated pattern while eliminating harmful influence on a workpiece to be coated, by forming the surface of water on which a coating film is let float inside a water tank, and letting said coating film flow down over the edge of the water tank and adhere onto the workpiece to be coated. CONSTITUTION:Paint is supplied from a paint feeder 4 to a paint reservoir 3 surrounded with a weir 2 and dispcharged onto the surface of water. Then, the diffused coating film 6 is let flow together with water poured in a shallow water tank 1 over the opposite side wall of a paint reservoir 5 as shown in the arrow (a). Then, the overflowing water is recovered in a receiver 10 and circulated to the water tank 1 by a pump 11. Hereon, a substrate 7 is provided in contact with a guide 9, and the substrate 7 only or both the substrate 7 and the guide 9 are moved vertically or right and left as shown in the arrow (b) to transfer the diffused coating film 6 to the substrate 7.
