<p>2,4-Di-substd. 6,7-dimethoxy quinazolines of formula (I), (in which R is phenyl or hetero-aryl, R1 and R2 are H or together form a 5-member ring, and X is O), are made by a two-stage process in which 2,4-dichloro 6,7-dimethoxy quinazoline is reacted with an alcohol of formula (II) to obtain a 4-substd. 2-chloro 6,7-dimethoxy quinazoline. This is reacted with a piperazine of formula (III) in a suitable polar solvent under reflux. - They are of therapeutic use for their outstanding hypertensive effect.</p> |
