A damping lining can be provided to protect water-carrying channels (1) against pressure waves. According to Patent Application P 3209386.1 it comprises annular layers (4) of damping material in a supporting cage with annular discs (2) and holding means (3) connecting the latter. According to the invention the annular discs (2) are designed in the form of bars (15) which are angled at regular distances apart to form stirrups (16). At the stirrups (16) projecting into the pipe interior, the holding means (3), designed as a grid (22), are connected to the bars (15), preferably screwed to the bars (15) with clamps (26).
