PURPOSE:To maintain correctly the parallelism between die plates in the stage of pulling in and out of tie bars by means of a die height shaft when dies are to be exchanged by detecting the number of revolutions of the die height shaft when the tie bars are pulled in and out and making both numbers of revolutions coincident with each other. CONSTITUTION:A die height shaft 12a is divided by a shaft dividing clutch 13 in the stage of pulling out tie bars 3. A motor 10 is run to rotate the shaft 12a via a driving shaft 11, etc. and to retreat tie bar nuts 4 by means of a worm gear 19 thereby pulling out the bars 3. After the dies are exchanged, the nuts 4 are advanced to pull in the bars 3. A dog 14 is attached to the prescribed position of the shaft 12a in the stage of exchanging the dies, and the projection 15 of a magnetic material provided to the dog 14 is successively detected by two magnetic proximity swithes 16, 17. The respective signals from the switches are fed to a display counter 18 and are displayed. If both numbers of revolutions during pulling out and pulling in are so controlled as to coincide exactly with each other, the bars 3 are reset to the home positions.
