PURPOSE:To simplify mechanism, to reduce manufacture cost and to improve its reliability by locating, tracking, and elevating an arm by one driving motor. CONSTITUTION:The driving motor 1 is driven by a command for play to move a wire 5 by a driving wheel 2 as shown by an arrow A. The sliding load on a slider 12 is set lighter than that on a carriage 7, so only the slider 12 moves in a guide groove 7b as shown by the arrow A and a cam surface 12b lowers an elevation lever 10 to places a stylus on a record surface. Further, when the leg 12a of the slider 12 abuts on a terminal of the guide groove 7b, the carriage 7 starts moving to track the arm according to the movement of the stylus. When the play of the record is completed, the driving motor 1 starts reversing and then stops the state before the play. Thus, the mechanism is simplified and the manufacture cost is reduced to improve its reliability.
