PURPOSE:To obtain a low-cost secondary battery in which a high molecular compound is used to make the positive electrode, and which can perform high- rate charge-and-discharge by using for the positive electrode a polyacrylonitrile obtained by polymerizing nitrile groups and having a ladder-like structure. CONSTITUTION:A polyacrylonitrile obtained by polymerizing nitrile groups and having a ladder-like structure, is used to make a positive electrode. Electrolyte is prepared by dissolving a solute containing negative ions which are taken into the positive electrode and discharged from it during charge-and-discharge. For instance, a secondary battery is constituted using the following members: electrolyte prepared by dissolving lithium perchlorate in propylene carbonate; a negative electrode consisting of a lithium plate; and a positive electrode prepared from a polyacrylonitrile having a structure represented by the formula and obtained by heating acrylonitrile in an atmosphere containing no oxygen. By the means mentioned above, a secondary battery having an excellent charge-and-discharge characteristic can be obtained using a low-cost positive electrode made of a high molecular compound. |
