PURPOSE:To apply pressure to a plate group by a simple method so as to facilitate installation of the plate group into a container, and increase the life of a storage battery by injecting and molding a thermoplastic synthetic resin around the lower part of the plate group while pressure is applied to the plate group. CONSTITUTION:Up to 1/2 or less of the height of the square periphery of a plate group 1 assembled, a thermoplastic synthetic resin such as polyethylene or polypropylene is formed by injection molding while pressure is compulsorily applied to the plate group 1. The thus obtained plate group 1 to which pressure is applied, can be easily installed in a container. Besides, a high dimensional accuracy of the outer periphery of a resin film 2 can be achieved. Therefore, it is easy to adjust the dimension of the outer periphery of the resin film 2 in conformity with the taper of the inner surface of the container. The height of the resin film 2 is adjusted to about 1/2 or below of the height of the plate group 1 for causing the upper surfaces of the end negative plates of the plate group 1 to contribute to gas-absorbing reaction. |
