Apparatus and method for coating a product of the cereal type, with a highly adherent coating substance, and for uniformly drying this substance. A double-walled coating cylinder comprises a perforated inner drum 18 and a non-perforated outer drum 26 concentrically surrounding the previous one, in order to define therewith an annular gap 20. The conventional heaters, such as gas-flame heaters, serving to heat the outer surface of the coating cylinder are placed by an outer heating device which conveys a heated gaseous agent, such as hot air, into the annular gap 20 separating the drums 16, 18, so that the hot air uniformly heats the inner surface of the perforated drum 18 and penetrates into this drum in order to come into contact with the bed of coated foods in order to fluidise it, and is then discharged from the inner drum with the dried coated food. <IMAGE> |
