A product for absorbing body fluids and a method for making the same is provided wherein the absorbent body comprises non-delignified wood pulp such as thermomechanical wood pulp. In accordance with the invention, the non-delignified wood pulp is passed through an ionized gaseous medium such as is generated by a corona discharge device whereby the body fluid absorption rate of the non-delignified wood pulp is enhanced. |
