PURPOSE:The titled composition, containing an inorganic salt and/or organic salt powder, a germicide or bacteriostatic or fungistatic agent and a perfume as main components, and capable of suppressing effectively the multiplication of fungi and mites, etc. in the interior of a room by scattering in the interior of the room and sucking the composition after the lapse of a given time. CONSTITUTION:A powdery composition containing (A) an inorganic salt, e.g. a sulfate or citrate, and/or an organic salt powder, e.g. preferably sodium sulfate or sodium citrate, (B) a germicide or bacteriostatic or fungistatic agent, e.g. a (halogenated) phenolic compound or amide compound, and (C) a perfume as main components and further optionall (D) one or more of an antistatic agent, surfactant or powder fluidity improving agent, e.g. finely divided alumina, dyestuff and wetting agent, e.g. propylene glycol. The resultant composition is scattered on a carpet, etc. and then sucked through a vacuum cleaner, etc. after the lapse of a given time to clean the carpet, etc. and suppress the multiplication of fungi and bacteria and further growth of mites and insects of the genus Psocoptera.
