Acylated benzimidazoles of the general formula I <IMAGE> in which R1 represents a 3-6 C cycloalkyl radical which is optionally substituted by 1-3 methyl groups or a phenyl radical which is optionally substituted by halogen, methyl or methoxy, R2 represents hydrogen or a 1-3 C alkyl radical, R3 represents hydrogen, a 1-3 C alkyl or a 1-3 C alkoxy radical, R4 represents hydrogen or a 1-3 C alkyl radical and n represents the numbers 0 or 1, and their salts are novel compounds having pronounced gastroprotective action.
