A chair made of sheet-type, multi-layer, deformable material, in particular plywood, has a seat plate (44), legs (36, 38, 40, 42) and a backrest (46) which consists of an integral, deformed piece of material, in which the seat plate is bent substantially at right angles out of the plane formed by the backrest and the rear legs, and the front legs are bent out of the plane of the seat plate substantially at right angles into a plane parallel to the backrest and the rear legs. Seen in a developed view, the backrest and the seat plate form an integral, substantially rectangular strip, whereas the front and rear legs start from the opposite longitudinal edges of this strip and extend one behind the other parallel to said strip. <IMAGE>
