An aluminum electrolytic capacitor, together with a method of manufacture thereof. In this method, an aluminum electrolytic capacitor element composed of anode aluminum foil (14), cathode aluminum foil (15) and a separator (16) is first enclosed and sealed within a casing (23). An electrolyte is poured into the element through pipes (12, 13) extending through the casing (23), and then the openings of the pipes are sealed to provide an aluminum electrolytic capacitor. Sealing the element in the absence of the electrolyte makes it possible to increase the hermetic sealing properties thereof and improve the quality of the element, and also enables the employment of a soldering technique in which the aluminum electrolytic capacitor is immersed in solder. In addition, it is possible to package the element directly in a resin by molding, so that the size of the aluminum electrolytic capacitor can be reduced. |
