PURPOSE:To control flying of toner by the extremely small number of control circuits and to attain picture recording by plane scanning by dividing the 1st control electrode into blocks, selecting these blocks by controlling the potential of the 2nd control electrode and controlling collectively the potential of plural 1st control electrode blocks selected from said blocks by a common control circuit. CONSTITUTION:When picture elements corresponding to a pair of the 1st control electrode 16f are to be recorded, negative voltage is impressed only to a pair of the 2nd control electrodes 15b corresponding to the blocks including the pair of the 1st control electrodes 16f. Simultaneously, the 1st control circuit 20a impresses negative voltage collectively to the pairs of the 1st control electrodes 16b, 16f, 16j... connected to the circuit 20a. Toner 12 existing just under the pair of the 1st control electrodes 16f to which negative voltage is impressed is passed through a toner passing gap 17 and sprayed to a back electrode 13 by the multiplied actions of coulomb repulsion by a toner carrier electrode 11 and coulomb attraction by the pair of the 1st control electrodes 16f and held on a recording medium 23 by coulomb attraction with the back electrode 13 to which negative voltage is impressed. |
