In an upper part, which has a shaft (1), a covering sole (2) and a cover strip (4), of a shoe, the covering sole (2) and the cover strip (4) are obtained from one piece by punching. The connection of an intermediate sole (5) to the covering sole (2) and the shaping of the former take place by a foaming process, an outsole (8) being connected to the foamed intermediate sole (5) by bonding. The method according to the invention is characterised by a reduced number of work steps in the cutting of the upper part and a significantly reduced outlay in terms of apparatus and work during the shaping and joining together of the individual sole components. <IMAGE>
