The reaction may be effected in the presence of a hydrogen halide acceptor and, optionally, a catalyst such as a quaternary ammonium halide. The radical X may represent a group such as (CH 3 ) 2 C:, (CH 3 ) 2 CH.CH:, (C 2 H 5 )(CH 3 )C:, benzylidene or where n=4 or 5. The products may be reacted with curing agents to produce shaped articles.
